Laiterie Coralis: over 60 years of trust and loyalty of both our producers and consumers

Since the 1950’s, Laiterie Coralis has been evolving and nurturing its dairy production. Its authentic products, gourmet and generous, have been rapidly adopted by local Britons in their everyday life.

It was in 1949 that eleven dairy farmers  from the surroundings of Rennes decided to come together and founded « La Coopérative laitière de Rennes et des environs » (The dairy cooperative of Rennes and its surrounding area) on the site of a former biscuit factory. A traditional-styled cooperative perfected over the years: the farmers bring their milk in vats for conditioning at the dairy. The methods of packaging have evolved over time, from glass bottles in the early days to plastic cartons and finally Tetra Pak packaging.

The milk products were originally sold in local grocery stores, restaurants and canteens. As their reputation grew, it reached to mass distribution in 1980.

During that period, the Cooperative bolstered its objectives and kept growing.

The offer to the consumer was diversified (butter and cream are added to milk) while the production equipment was keeping up with rapid technical changes: automation of UHT milk production and launch of brick packaging.

The economic development of Laiterie Coralis provided reassurance to its farming members, while the quality of its products created a stable and loyal customer base.  Laiterie Coralis’s operating model became sustainable through time and hard work, and the cooperative is now firmly installed as part of the food industry landscape in Bretagne and in the heart of local consumers.
